Eternal, natural, responsible
Seagreens of Norway is a trade mark developed by the Norwegian Seaweed Association (NSA). Products with this brand use raw materials from the clean and cold seawater of the Norwegian coast, and are harvested and labelled so that customers and consumers can have confidence in their origin, quality and sustainability. The interaction between natural conditions and the expertise of growers and harvesters makes Norwegian seaweed unique.
Did you know..
-
Seaweed contains important minerals, antioxidants and B vitamins. Some types of kelp also contain proteins, polyunsaturated fatty acids and fibre.
-
Seaweed is particularly rich in iodine, which is a nutrient we need but which many people do not get enough of. One knifeful of dried kelp per day is enough.
-
The amount of iodine in fresh seaweed can be significantly reduced by heat treatment above 60 degrees centigrade and by boiling, without significantly reducing the amount of other nutrients.
-
Iodine is necessary for the thyroid gland to produce hormones that help control metabolism.
-
Iodine is also important for the growth and development of the brain and central nervous system in the foetus during pregnancy and in young children.
