IMTA
IMTA - Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture is an exciting approach to building a sustainable seafood industry by growing low-trophic species such as kelp and tunicates close to fish farms to absorb surplus nutrients from fish feed. In this way, we can create a future regenerative aquaculture industry that leaves the ocean area in a better way than today's monoculture.
There are several ongoing projects looking at IMTA and there are still many questions to be answered.
